will stage T20Is
The Bangladesh Cricket Board
(BCB) on Friday said that Afghanistan will tour Bangladesh for three ODIs and
two T20Is in February-March this year. However, BCB did not confirm if crowds
will be allowed into the stadiums as the rise in Covid-19 cases last month
forced the BCB to stage the BPL behind closed doors.
Afghanistan's
scheduled Zimbabwe tour was postponed as the host board could not arrange the
required broadcasting services needed for the Decision Review System (DRS). The
series was originally scheduled for December but was postponed following the
spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant in Zimbabwe.
The Afghanistan squad
is scheduled to reach Dhaka on February 12 and train in Sylhet before traveling
to Chattogram, which will host the one-day series from Feb. 23, the BCB said in
a statement on Thursday. Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium hosts the
Twenty20 matches on March 3 and 5.
The ODI series will
give both Bangladesh and Afghanistan another chance to boost their positions in
the Super League points table. Afghanistan are currently placed fifth, having
won all the six matches they have played so far. As for Bangladesh, they are
second with eight wins in 12 games.
